https://suricrasia.online/unfiction/spinning/

This is the latest piece of "unfiction" from Blackle Mori. I reviewed its previous work Bridge to eQualia last year, and as much as I liked that one, gotta say I like this one even more. Beautifully executed "unfiction", blurring the lines between a story that didn't happen, and a story that absolutely did happen and is still happening. Gets at the core of what it's like to be transgender online at this moment in 2026. Please read it.
<details>
Spoilers follow:

It pisses me off to NO END to see Taylor's struggles erased so casually by the moderators, and dismissed in favor of "ooo supernatural" by the other commentors. She is at the end of her rope in so many ways, but these details are just erased ("I'm trans" is literally edited out of her original post!!) to satisfy some over-strict policy about "no giving information for doxxing" is devastating. Less devastating but still tragicomic are:

The forum moderator who's had his brain hollowed out by AI, well-aligned with the class interest of the HOA lady who is kicking Taylor out.

The troll yolololo who keeps trying to incite more doxxing violations and acts suprised when a doxx does happen later.

The few users (Reggie42, AadarshVarma) who offer empty words of support and contribute nothing else, one even misgendering her.

The local "crazy guy" (packrat) spouting nonsense says the most supporting things by far, and this too is deleted.

The single user, lesser_wevil, who does provide meaningful contributions to the thread beyond OP, also has unspecified life stuff going on.

maggie949, returning from the last story as a side character this time, somehow recovers but fails to deliver thought-lost photos of Taylor's close friend who passed away long before this began. Also she's banned for trying to do that after the thread is locked even though yolololo is never banned.

To me, the story is about petty tyrants & trans erasure. It also gives theses to why those petty tyrants use their power to erase trans livelihoods: they're scared. They don't understand it. They'd rather inflict their will upon reality with whatever meager power they have to keep things looking "normal". It's not quite that they're turning a blind eye to reality; they need to percieve these things in order to react to them after all. It's more that they're choosing not to understand what's going on, substituting a simpler understanding that allows them to give up their empathy:

All the forum moderator wants to do is avoid KF + /x/ scruitiny, because those are terrible sites you never want to be the target of. But they way he (clay_anderseen specifically, I give lizpony a pass) goes about it is just by erasing everything he finds "uncomfortable" about a post, not bothering to check whether that uncomfort is from actual fear of doxxing (like real names/maps being posted), or from class interests (criticism of HOA) or from just not wanting to deal with the messyness of someone's terrible life.

The HOA president lady really did have that weird shared dream with Taylor, and she initially tried to forget about it, but hearing Taylor make the quip "at least the house isn't spinning!" in real life triggered her primal fear of the supernatural, causing her to resort to more hateful measures (purposefully causing someone to become unhoused) than just heckling. Being faced with the fact that atypically-gendered, different-acting, under-housed people exist was already enough to trigger that fear of the unknown, so to be faced with a true unknown was too much.

What I really like about the "unfiction" format is, because it's so hyperrealistic, that events described really could have happened, and yet it's fictional: that lends a good sense of unreality to the scene being described. I'm a sucker for unreality in general, and in this story that ties in well with the dreamlike events described. It gives power to those events, because it's anchored in our reality. Speaking of, let's analyze the dreams real quick:

The common motif of Taylor's dreams, and her experience in life, is one of aimless, unstoppable spinning. A potent metaphor for feeling directionless, yes, but the specific details are important too. In the first set of recurring dreams, it's the house that's spinning. The house she develops an attachment to as one of the only safe places in her life after some incredibly rough times. In the second dream, it's her (the dancer) spinning, and the spinning house being crushed by outside forces until it's only her spinning. That second dream contains a common element of encirclement: the partygoers (representation for society?) trap her with the threat of an amalgam/homogeneity she doesn't want to be a part of, and the construction workers trap her in a crushed house underneath fake plastic pine fronds, treating her as an object in need of demolition.

After the house around her is crushed by the wrapping, and the objectification is complete (but the spinning continues), she is left alone as a dancer, with one last stinging debilitation ("... with my wrists fused together. Hands are numb.") as a kick in the teeth. To me, this represents the absolute rejection by society towards the unhoused. Quite a reasonable stress dream to have upon hearing that news frankly!

Another point of evidence is the difference in her attitude towards the spinning. In the first, she is annoyed, because this aimlessness depression indifference has been following her for a while now, but as long as she's safe/stable, it's a banal curiosity. The second is much different. Just replaying the paragraph:

The worst part was happening to my brain. It's not that I couldn't stop. I couldn't BRING MYSELF to stop. I couldn't CARE to stop it. Any resistance or even the thought of stopping sputtered and died in my mind. Even my personality was fading. What remained watched it all happen delirious at ten feet below and falling. Sick with the vision of a sick world in motion in the distance passing by to the right from north to west to south to east and back and back and back and back.

To me, that sort of ego death is absolutely terrifying. It's painfully obvious she's having a breakdown from being kicked out of her house for no good reason after a long time suffering, and the only responses are "You seem like a good honest guy sorry life has been unfair to you." (misgender) "I have to ask, could you check your phone for any new videos? Pictures?" (apathy) and a moderator telling her off, to which her only response is "Sorry. It won't ever happen again.", which is her last post on the forum.

(I really really really hope this isn't sui, and that Maggie was able to finally send her the pictures of her passed-away friend; the ambiguity is just heartwrenching.)

Anyways, I wrote a lot about this but also don't really have anything to add besides absolute fury at all this oppression going on, which is a good thing I guess. Had sort of become numb to it all, and this story is a potent reminder of just how unfair it is that people are forced to live like this. No one's free until we're all free.
</details>

Later on they mention Porter Robinson & Virtual Riot as inspirations when it came to the vocal processing, and I can definitely hear that reflected in the beats too.
